Open Food Facts (ODbL)

Barcode databases are based on Open Food Facts — the collaborative food-products database — under the Open Database License (ODbL). The derived packs we distribute are available under the same license. openfoodfacts.org

USDA FoodData Central (public domain)

The foods and nutrition database is based on USDA FoodData Central data, which is in the public domain. fdc.nal.usda.gov

llama.cpp (MIT license)

The on-device model runtime is llama.cpp by Georgi Gerganov and the community, under the MIT license. github.com/ggml-org/llama.cpp

The AI models

Meal analysis is powered by the open models Gemma 4 (Google DeepMind, under the Gemma Terms of Use) and Qwen3-VL / Qwen3.5 (Alibaba Cloud, Apache 2.0), in quantized (GGUF) builds that run entirely on-device.

Speech, OCR & Apple frameworks

Speech recognition, menu/label text recognition, Apple Health, CloudKit and App Intents are built on Apple's frameworks and run on-device.
